A Pattern Language for Personal Authoring in E-Learning

The proposed pattern language is a collection of authoring patterns that individual authors can use in creating e-learning courses. The pattern language reflects our experience in the e-learning industry. Some of the patterns are basic and fundamental and most tool-related patterns are folklores among the IT-savvy authors. Other patterns emerged from our observation of users’ authoring behaviors, environments, and outcomes. We believe that there are subtle relations among these patterns, and putting them together in a pattern language provides helpful insights. We expect that people can use this pattern language to create quality e-learning contents at low costs.
